How to liven up a jar of tomato sauce
Whipping up a quick and easy bolognese or marinara for spaghetti? Opt for a jar of tomato sauce instead of slaving away at the stove for hours!
Begin by taking a medium pot and heat up 1/2 TB EVOO. Add 1/2 of a small chopped onion, 1/8 tsp. red pepper flakes, and sauté for 3 minutes. Throw in sliced baby portobello mushrooms and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Adding mushrooms is optional, but it adds flavor and texture to the sauce (plus some added veggies too)!
Now take a jar of tomato sauce, I prefer Ragu’s traditional organic pasta sauce, and add it to the pot. Add some freshly chopped basil and simmer for 20 minutes.
Add meatballs to the sauce or spoon over any pasta and enjoy!
